The Madagascar Rainforest is located on a large island off the east coast of Africa. This island was once part of the African continent until it broke away about 60 million years ago. This island is the forth largest island in the world. Most of the mammals, plants, amphibians and reptiles are unique to this island. However about 90% of this rainforest has been cut down, causing the habitants to be even rarer.
